Arlington Success in School Summit
A dialogue on dropout prevention
Saturday, November 1, 2008
Post Summit Notes
Approximately 190 community stakeholders came together to discuss some tough issues relative to student success in our schools. The day’s topics included:
- Home and Family
- School and Jobs
- Health and Safety
- Social and Legal
Fact
When students drop out of school, it affects everyone in our community – businesses, government, students and families.
Fact
Communities must come together to reduce student drop out rates. No single person, agency or organization has the capacity to do it all. We must answer the call to prepare our children for college, work and life!
Fact
America’s Five Promises (caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education, opportunities to serve) help put our children on a path whose destination is graduation and future success.
Fact
This summit was made possible through a grant provided by the America’s Promise Alliance.
